Sortable 1.1

8. May, 2011

Sortable (v. 1.1) is very different from regular WordPress Themes. It has a very fancy way of sorting posts by category (check it out in the demo by clicking on a category). Another great feature is that you can control the layout in your admin panel.

New in version 1.1:

  • You do not need to set up the categories manually longer, just plug and play.
  • You can add drop shadows to the layout boxes

Some Key Features:

  • Unique sortable function
  • Custom layout options
  • Unlimited color options
  • Custom HTML Box
  • Drop Down menu
  • Built in textures
  • Automatic thumbnail cropping
  • Valid HTML 5
  • User Instructions
  • … and much more

Please share it if you like it :)

Hola, alguien lo puede explicar en español?

  4. Furcifer says:

You should really consider reading the theme guidelines.

  5. tablesurfer says:

    Hi,

I installed the theme but no thumbnails are showing up.

    Can you help?

    Thank you,
    Table Surfer

  6. grenzenlos says:

It seems to have problems with WordPress 3.2

  7. R. van der Loos says:

How did you insert ihe photo into the Photography category

  8. Availor says:

    Hello,

I’m using wordpress 3.2.1 but the thumbnails don’t work (I’ve put thumb correctly), for some reason it doesn’t show any post under any category other than the default one, and it always misses the last post (meaning if I have 10 posts it will show 9, if I have 11 it will show 10).
I am using multisite feature if that may help… anyone knows anything about it?

  9. I tried installing this theme…looks good except I am having issues with the thumbnails too.

  10. geekspeak says:

Where is the documentation? Cannot seem to find it to solve a few small quarks – other than that, this theme is absolutely beautiful!

    • admin says:

      There is a README file.

      • geekspeak says:

I’m having trouble with the thumbnail images – everything else is working. The version states: “You are using WordPress 3.2.1.” Am using the “network” feature of the site – http://delivertheword.com/andheshallbecalled/ – cannot get it to show the thumbnails… Wasn’t sure if there was a more in depth guide since the README stated the feature set, but Furcipher above said to read the “theme guidelines”… Thought maybe I missed it. Availor appears to be having the same challenge I am. Thanks for all the hard work – the template is gorgeous and I REALLY want to be able to use it!!! William

        • admin says:

There is a problem with the timthumb script on network enabled wordpress sites. Timthumb is a free script that resizes images. I think there may be a hack to fix this problem. Try to search for “timthumb on network sites” or something like that on Google. I will try to fix this problem in a future release, but it will take some time since I have so much work right now.

          • geekspeak says:

Appreciate it!!! The theme is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! Was able to get around it by removing that script being called all together – and sizing the images to exactly what they needed to be (just scripted Photoshop to autosize and save them at 210 pixels wide – solved)! Several more builds done have done with exactly the same impact – WOW. It’s simple, creative, providing JUST what I needed to make it different. Am looking forward to trying your other themes as well. I’ll be looking for the upgrade when you get around to it – keep cranking them out man!!! William

Has anyone had problems with the About and Full Width tabs not showing up? I messed up and had to uninstall everything including wordpress and then had to reinstall, but now the about and full width are not showing up. How did i lose them and how do i get them back and get them doing what they are suppose to do?

  12. inneri says:

I tied uninstalling everything and reinstalling again but those tabs are still missing. I am erasing wordpress and the database EVERYTHING but some ow those two tabs won’t come back like the original Sortable Blog. Also there is an alignment problem where the shading is running off the page on the right. PLEASE HELP

  13. inneri says:

I figured out the problem and how the theme works! What a beautiful theme. Congrats and Thank you for coming up with such a wonderful theme. I absolutely Love it! It is perfect for what I am trying to do. Continued Success!!

  14. Wilson says:

I called geekspeak after reading his solution regarding the thumbnails but he has not returned my calls. I cannot figure out the script changes to make the thumbnails show. I have tried everything. I went to delivertheword.com and geekspeak seems to have fixed the problem. I am not sure which script he removed but I would like to do the same thing and just re-size to the exact size in PS. What would you delete to accomplish the option he spoke about.

As the same image can appear in two or more categories?

Dear Admin! You’ve made an awesome theme! I really love it! But I am facing the same problems with SHOWING THUMBS. I am doing everything that’s written in the ReadMe file – in custom field I put “thumb” as Name and in Value I put the image url that looks like: http://xxxxxx.xxx.ru/wp-content/uploads/1.jpg. It does not wanna shop up! What could be the problem?! Please help me, I don’t want to change the theme.

  18. Sgrafix says:

I have finally solved the problem with thumbnails! So, I’ve just changed the access rights to the folder ‘cache’ to 777 in directory /www/wp-content/themes/Sortable/scripts/. Now it works!

  19. Grady says:

Has this theme been checked with WP 3.3?

    • admin says:

No. I have not been able to update it for a while. But I will as soon as I have time to work on it.

      • Grady says:

Well, I dropped it on my sandbox server and it’s working so far :)

        dev.tummel.me/napadash/

I have quite a bit of tweaking to do and it will probably be a different theme when it comes out the other side.

One thing that is odd and I haven’t looked into yet is the loop is dropping the latest post from all queries. For instance on the site linked above there is only 1 post and it doesn’t show. This was an issue before trying it on WP 3.3.

        • admin says:

Yes, I am aware of that issue. It has to do with the “ad box” Will fix this in the next release.

          • Grady says:

Anything I can do to help you find the time to update this theme? I really love it, mostly the quicksand integration, and it would be worth it for me if you already know of bugs that need addressing.

  20. Sgrafix says:

Dear Admin! I have faced another Sortable Theme problem. When I name a category with 2 word, like: ‘Graphic Art’ the category sorting script stops showing the post in that category. As soon as I name it just ‘Graphics’ it works OK. There must be some fixes done to the script I suppose. Unfortunatelly I cannot do it myself :(.
My site is on WP 3.2.1 and I really love this theme! I hope you can help me.
